Bishop Donald Hying of the Madison Roman Catholic Diocese addressed our Feb. 1st meeting on the subject of Ethical Decision-Making and Its Impact on Business, Professional and Community Leaders. He defined ethics as, “knowing the right thing to do.” In this regard, the Bishop referenced the Rotary Four-Way Test and Catholic Social Teaching.
He concluded his presentation by citing his experience among the poor of the Dominican Republic. His impression was that as poor as the people of that country were, they always carried themselves with dignity. In other words, he said, “They had learned the life of gratitude,” which we all should follow.
